NextFlex News – June 2024
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Great goings-on at NextFlex these days and I’m so pleased to share that NextFlex and its member collaborators have been invited to move on to a full proposal for the NAPMP Materials and Substrates NOFO. As you may know, NextFlex submitted a 10-page concept paper in May along with over 100 other teams. We were delighted to be selected to move on to the next phase and the gathering of information now is moving forward in earnest. While it’s too early to speak about specifics, we are so appreciative of all the great help and support we’re receiving from many members and supporters. You’ll be hearing more about this activity in the weeks to come as the full proposal is due July 3. If you’re planning to attend the Flex Conference July 9-11 in San Francisco, we’ll be gathering the community there for a briefing on the plans included in the proposal. Stay tuned for more information about that. NextFlex members receive an automatic discount when registering to attend the Flex Conference.
If that wasn’t enough excitement, we also launched PC 9.0 last week, our ninth project call designed to foster technology innovation and commercialization. If you missed our virtual Proposer’s Day and Teaming Event on June 10, follow the link above to view a recording of that session. If you’re interested in submitting a proposal or would like to talk with us about your ideas, please reach out to us. PC 9.0 topics include:
- Manufacturing of High Resolution, Multilayer Electronic Packages and Devices
- Thermal Management for Power Electronics
- Reliable Hybrid Electronics for Extreme Conditions
- Conformal & Structurally Integrated Hybrid Electronics
- Additive Processes for Improved Environmental Sustainability of Electronics Manufacturing
- Open Topic for “New Project Leads”
Finally, I’ll end with a link to a recently released video from Manufacturing USA titled, “Unlocking Opportunities: The New Frontier of US Manufacturing Careers,” which features Ms. Emily McGrath, our former Director of EWD. Emily wonderfully articulates the workforce needs of the advanced manufacturing sector, and the video shows how the institutes are accelerating growth of next generation workers through technology-specific workforce development and education programs which are having a tremendous impact across the country.
Have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Dr. Art Wall
