I-Corps @ DoD Pilot Program
The I-Corps @ DoD pilot program is an intensive 7 week entrepreneurial education program, modeled after other lean startup programs, which trains researchers in how to become entrepreneurs. The program seeks to fund as many as 12 teams of three people each to explore the commercial and defense potential of ideas arising from DoD basic research. Teams are composed of a Principal Investigator, an Entrepreneurial Lead (often a graduate student, postdoc, or early career professional), and a Mentor with some commercialization experience or expertise. Eligible PIs will be researchers at universities or new private companies with basic research funding from DoD within the last 5 years. The I-Corps @ DoD pilot is operated in partnership with the NSF I-Corps program and teams that go through the program will go through training with NSF funded teams. Please see the BAA at the link below for official requirements.
The deadline for applications is September 15th, but awards will be made on a rolling basis, so applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline. The award will be for up to $70k (including indirect costs) to attend a training program and for travel costs in support of customer discovery.
